Alistair Paterson's Creative writing

Programme 2015

Creative Writing Retreat in Alloway, Ayr,
Autumn 2015

‘Writing with a Sense of Place’ in the Heart
of Burns Country, with Alistair Paterson

30th October-2nd November

As well as being the birthplace of Robert Burns, home to the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum and fabled location of his infamous poem, ‘Tam o’ Shanter’, Alloway is a picturesque suburb of Ayr giving easy access to town, coast and country.  Within walking distance of the retreat cottage (which is situated directly opposite Burns Cottage) are the Auld Haunted Kirk of Alloway, Burns Monument Gardens, Brig o’ Doon, Maclaurin Art Gallery, Rozelle House, Belleisle Park and Rozelle Estate.  In less than a mile from the cottage you will find yourself on the beach via a tree-lined walk alongside the River Doon.  Further afield South Ayrshire possesses a plethora of underrated and largely unknown riverside walks, coastal paths and hillwalking country.

The retreat will begin on a Friday at 6pm (access can be gained from 4pm onwards), and finish at 10am on the Monday morning.

Cost:

£200 per person

£160 roomshare per person

Couples: £325 (per couple)

Non-residential attendance £80
